A Word From Pastor Rickey

In John 18:37, Jesus told Pontius Pilate, the Roman governor of Judaea who was interrogating him, that those who know the truth listened to His words. Pilate's response is very interesting--he replies, "What is truth?"

Pilate is a government official who has seen so much corruption that he is no longer able to recognize truth. Truth had become lost in a barrage of issues and he confesses that he would not know it if he saw it. The fact of who stood before him and his inability to recognize Jesus as the saviour of the world verifies his condition. He has been eaten alive by the political correctness of his day. It will do the same in our day.

How important is the truth? What you believe to be true will affect your choices in life and determine your destination, especially what you believe concerning God--this will shape your life more than any other belief. Our society says truth depends on the circumstances, the person, the issues, etc. What's true for you may not be true for me. The Bible declares that truth is truth regardless of the situation. This concept is viewed as "being intolerant" in our present culture.

Here is one of the main tenets of truth--it invites you to check it out. It is not afraid to be researched because it knows what you will find--a solid foundation. The Bible invites us to explore it and is very careful to warn us to not be deceived:
Deuteronomy 11:16; Luke 21:8; 1 Corinthians 6:9, 15:33; Galatians 6:7; 1 John 4:1; and others.

As we see all that is occuring in the world, we must agree with Isaiah 59:14--"Truth has fallen in the streets," but thank God for John 8:32--"You shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free." The Word of God is not "a truth," it is "the truth." It is the truth that will set you free and keep you free.

I challenge you to delve deeply into God's Word, the Bible; attend a good church where the Bible is preached, taught and sang; spend time in prayer and ask God for revelation of the truth of His Word.
When you discover the truth about Jesus, you find peace.

May the Lord direct you,
Pastor Rickey
